Firefly, "The Train Job"

Episode #2 – The Train Job.

      The second episode of Firefly heats up a bit.    I suspected that the romance level may crank up a notch.  You always have to be careful with this in a series.  If people hook up too soon romatically, the series becomes less entertaining to watch when the tension is gone.

       It looks like River,  Dr. Simons sister is starting to come around.   Kaylee the mechanic  also appears to be back to near 100% health.  Kaylee and Inara  had a talk about the handsome Dr. during a hair brushing session early in the episode.   Just after this, Mal discusses personal safety during an upcoming job with Inara.   He tells her that she will be confined to the ship during the job.  They get pretty close, and Mal asks if she’ll do his hair jokingly while he exits the room.   Definitely tension and possibly even romantic history here. 

      We find out during a conversation between Inara and the Shepard that she has been on the ship for 8 months but isn’t sure if she’ll “ever really know” the captain (Mal).   The question the Shepard  asked was “how long have you known the captain”.  She only responds with the amount of time she was on the ship, not the actual amount of time she’s known the captain.    

     Dr. Simon tries to flirt with Kaylee during the train heist, but Jayne breaks it up by being a jerk.   I don’t trust Jayne much, but he’s proven his loyalty to Mal twice (after this episode). 

     Inara uses her status to get Mal and Zoe out of hot water with the sheriff after the train heist. 

     The Alliance has two men who look like evil FBI agents  looking for River.  Mal hasn’t been making any friends either.  It appears the action is going to heat up.  River appears to be really disturbed from whatever the alliance was doing to her.   I’m not sure if she’s going to be romantically involved with anyone before the show ends now, despite her attractiveness. 

     I will also point out that Jayne and the Shepard likely aren’t going to be involved romantically with anyone.  The Shepard is like a priest or pastor.  He isn’t really allowed to partake of the sexual activity.  Plus, pardon the stereotype, but he’s like a character Morgan Freeman would play.  He is the Morgan Freeman of the ship.   Jayne is way too big of a jerk to be getting with any of the ladies on this ship.  Yet, you would think the man would have needs.   We shall see how this all pans out.   

Firefly Serenity

I started watching Firefly with the Serenity episode. It's reminding me of a western show from the 60's set in outer space . I'm finding it pretty entertaining.

I'm not sure which aspect to focus on because there are many. The personal friendships, relationships and alliances stand out though. This is a common happening in many shows and films, but I noticed the romantic aspect between several people. I'm going to focus on that and go from there.

It looks like the Dr. Simon has a thing for Kaylee, the mechanic. I've only watched one episode, but if the Dr. is staying on the ship, I think he's gonna go for it. She does have a pretty smile for a mechanic.

Then, Dr. Simon has a very intelligent (but possibly wacked out) sister named River who is attractive. I would assume she would have to be romatically involved with someone at some point during the duration of the show.

Of course, we see that the pilot Hoban and Zoe are already married. No mystery here.

It became apparent late in the episode that there is something going on between the captain Mal and Inara. She may be a “companion”, but I think Mal loves her. I think she loves him too, that's why she's still on the ship. She's definitely got a thing for him.

Some people say red heads have a fiery temper.

  
     Hi there.  I'm Keith, and as you may have guessed, I have red hair.  Anytime I've shown any form of anger all throughout life, I've been told by various people that red heads have a temper.  I find this humorous, as I'm generally as laid back and mellow as a person could ever be.  We all have a temper, but mine apparently isn’t as bad as some other red headed people. 
     Of course, there are freckles with the red hair.  It’s my understanding this makes me a ginger bread kid.  I’m fine with this, because there aren’t that many of us true ginger bread kids left.  We’re a special kind of people.      
     Currently I'm working 55-60 hours a week in between two jobs.  I'm a father of two wonderful boys.  They will be 11 and 8 this year.  They have strawberry blonde hair, and show signs of being partial ginger bread kids themselves. 
     My major is anthropology.  I will attempt a double minor in Petrology and Mineralogy, and Economic Geology.  I'm currently a sophomore based on the amount of credits I have.  I'm taking 23 credit hours this quarter, which is more than the 21 I took last quarter.
      I have a variety of hobbies, but my interest in certain anthropological and geological fields help lead me back to school at Ohio State after a long break.  I started taking classes in 1998 but quit to focus on a career after marriage.  I’m going to suggest to all 18-23 year old students that you wait until you’re 25 or so to get married.  It just makes it easier to finish school and pursue your other goals.  That’s just opinion though. 
      Sometimes I regret not finishing school when I theoretically should have.  On the bright side though, the campus has changed a lot in recent years, and the technological advances have been amazing.  There are learning resources and different facilities available now that simply weren’t available back then. 
     In closing, I’m 6’2”, a Gemini, and I enjoy Chipotle.
