Blog # 45 California Love

I went to Los Angeles last year for a solo vacation. I'm a pretty big Laker fan, and I love warm climates.  The beach is a favorite pastime, and I've never been west of Indiana.  California was always a destination I wanted to explore.

Originally, I was supposed to go to Florida with someone, but sometimes things don't work out.  The opportunity to purchase a round trip ticket for a decent price was too much to resist.

Touched down at LAX and picked up my rental car at 3 A.M..  Drove for about an hour south to Laguna Beach.  I watched the sun come up while I sat on the cliffs watching the waves crash in.  It was one of nicer mornings I've experienced.  I took the pacific coast highway back north and hit some other beaches, including Santa Monica and Malibu.  In the following days I drove through downtown L.A. and up and down Hollywood boulevard, hit some clubs, and had a decent time.  I stayed in Manhattan Beach,  not far from LAX.  I was amazed at how relaxed all the people seemed.  Even in some gridlock traffic and some smog, everyone seemed to be in a decent mood.  I guess you would be in a decent mood if you lived in southern California all the time.

The only thing I didn't accomplish was a visit to the Staples Center to see the Lakers.  I'm reserving that for next time.

Sometimes things don't work out for a reason.  I'm glad I went to California.

  1. That's so amazing. I've wanted to go to Cali for a long time now. I hear nothing but good things about it.

  2. Cali is nice. There is some smog, pollution, earthquakes, and certain areas have too many people, but it's still really nice. It isn't always freezing cold, raining, or boiling hot like Ohio seems to be 95% of the time. Every once in a while, seeminly about 10 or 15 times a year, we get one of those "nice days". Like 75-80 degrees, some sun, but not too much. It's like that most of the time in much of California.
