Commas still get me. I think I use them sometimes when I shouldn't. Sometimes maybe I should have used them, and I didn't. I think it's more about overuse though. I put a lot of pauses in when I speak, so a lot of my sentences have the same points of hesitation. I think it's important to take a break in the middle of the sentence, it gives people time to take in information. Of course, this opens the opportunity for argument on some occasions, but I welcome it.
I dated someone last year who was more of a texter than I was. Now I text a lot. Of course, smileys and "lols" are now littered in all of my texts and emails, and I find myself refraining from using them in blogs and papers. Personally, I think the smiley should just be allowed from now on. It's like the new exclamations point. Except it says "I'm not that excited, just happy".
I agree. smileys are good. it lets people with no sense of humor, like aly, realize that you're joking.
ReplyDeleteUmm I have a sense of humor don't let her fool you.
ReplyDeleteI was so crushed when she said we couldn't use smiley's. It's really important for me to express my smiles. I'm sure you do have a sense of humor Aly (smiley with a "D").
