"Men who lived in an increasingly difficult and complex world committed acts of violence because of jealousy, driven by a sense of honor, by love and by desire for a woman."
This article discusses chivalry and other issues from Eighteenth century China. I don't plan to use a great deal from this article, but it will be one of several sources that I use to reflect on chivalry over time, and how it has always been a part of our society. This is an important bridge as we come to some of the current day archaic chivalry we still see in parts of our society, including the gang violence that will be brought up in some detail on my APR. More importantly than chivalry though, this article shows how men will become prone to acts of violence when driven by love and desire for a woman. This describes Mal and Atherton in Firefly : "Shindig" to perfection.
