Blog # 33 Relevancy of Perfromance Enhancing Drugs in MLB

The topic of performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball (MLB) and other sports is relevant because some of us ourselves are competitive athletes and we look up to professional athletes as examples.  Also, many athletics play a crucial role in many or our lives.  Look at The Ohio State University.  What kind of school would it be without athletics ?  In particular, football.   We built an insanely large football stadium back in the 1920s that we couldn't hardly fill up until after the 2nd world war.  Now, football is a multi million dollar money maker for the NCAA and the university.

What if our student athletes used performance enhancing drugs ?   What would the pitfalls be for those individuals and the university ?  What if we could win the national championship in football or basketball next year by utilizing players who were on performance enhancing drugs?  Would it be fair for us to do that if other universities were utilizing players on the same drugs ?  How would we enforce the rules against using the drugs if they were not able to detect them in tests ?
